Kentucky Hospitals Create $5B Economic Impact in 2008

The Kentucky Hospital Association has released its latest economic impact report, which shows that hospitals in the state spent more than $5 billion on salaries, supplies and services in 2008, according to a news release by the KHA.

The report, “Kentucky Hospitals’ Statewide Economic Importance to Their Communities,” also found that the hospitals were responsible for $576.7 million in tax revenue, either directly or through their employees. Hospitals in the state also provided more than $1 billion in community benefit and $675 million in compensated care.
