Ballots will be mailed to employees April 5 and a vote count is scheduled for May 1. Employees have three options: Keep SEUI-United Healthcare Workers West as their union, replace it with the National Union for Healthcare Workers or drop union representation and choose neither one.
SEIU-UHWW won the first election, which took place in October 2010, but NUHW filed a complaint, claiming SEIU engaged in election misconduct and Kaiser colluded, according to the report. An administrative law judge found that SEIU misconduct did interfere with workers’ free choice and called for a new election.
