The unit would increase the number of jobs in Atlanta and could employ several hundred workers.

“While we have a standard practice of not commenting on rumors or speculation related to real estate transactions, we can confirm that evaluating potential new or replacement sites is part of our normal, day-to-day business operations,” Kaiser Permanente spokeswoman Kerri Hartsfield-Johnson said in a statement. Ms. Hartfield-Johnson said Kaiser Permanente usually issues a statement when it completes a notable real estate transaction.

The announcement of the potential purchase comes three months after Kaiser Permanente completed a deal to set up an IT campus in Midtown Atlanta.
