Kaiser Permanente CEO speaks out in aftermath of shootings

Following the recent shooting attacks across the nation, Kaiser Permanente CEO Bernard Tyson has written a powerful response essay on race relations, according to Fortune.

Fortune published the essay Monday morning and Mr. Tyson posted it on LinkedIn a few hours later.

In the essay, he urges readers to consider the “common principles we believe in as Americans,” but also notes that America is “at a tipping point in society and the systems we have in place need to change.”

“This moment calls for unity, for listening and for empathy as we seek to understand what communities of color are facing and the assumptions that the broader society is working from,” Mr. Tyson wrote. “We must listen to understand other perspectives and test our own mental maps rather than to reinforce our own beliefs.”
