Mr. Tyson introduces the letter, whose subject line reads “Our continued call for leadership,” with a reminder that the outcome of the election has not altered healthcare providers’ duty to continue working to improve healthcare for all. “We are on a journey to improve health in America, key to which is making high-quality healthcare more affordable and more accessible to Americans,” he wrote. “It is our obligation and we are committed to engaging in the critical conversations to make this a reality for the generations to come.”
Mr. Tyson goes on to express his respect for the democratic process that has resulted in the election of Donald Trump as president, adding he looks forward to “an orderly transition of the leadership for this country.”
At the helm of Kaiser Permanente, Mr. Tyson said the organization will continue to advocate for the health of the communities it serves and strive to provide high-quality, affordable and accessible care.
Without explicitly mentioning the ACA, Mr. Tyson wrote at the end of his letter that he is interested to see if and how Mr. Trump will change the healthcare reform law.
“Given some of the positions taken on healthcare during the election process, our entire industry looks forward to learning more about how the next administration views access to healthcare and coverage. At Kaiser Permanente, we stand ready to participate and engage in these critical discussions. I will keep you informed about what we learn,” he wrote.
