Judge who ruled against ACA says it will remain intact during court proceedings

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor, who ruled Dec. 14 that the ACA is unconstitutional due to its individual mandate, said the law will remain in place during the appeal process, according to The Hill.

The original lawsuit against the ACA was brought on by 20 state attorneys general, and another 17, led by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, are now appealing Judge O’Connor’s decision.

Judge O’Connor wrote that the law would remain in place because “many everyday Americans would otherwise face great uncertainty during the pendency of appeal.”
