The public hospital was purchased by Adventist last year, but in February, a judge overturned the $80 million merger, ruling the 21 closed-door meetings surrounding the merger were in violation of the state’s Sunshine Law and that the two groups’ attempts to “cure” the violations by reholding the meetings were not an appropriate remedy.
The merger is scheduled to be dissolved on June 30, with control of Bert Fish returning to the Southeast Volusia Hospital District.
The proposed separation plan must first be approved by a Circuit Court judge.
