The Joint Commission has selected Arjun Srinivasan, MD, to serve as deputy chief medical officer; he will lead initiatives to improve quality and safety.
Dr. Srinivasan is a physician-scientist with more than 25 years of experience in public health and quality improvement, according to a Nov. 10 news release from the organization. He spent 20 years with the CDC, most recently as deputy director for program improvement in the agency’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion. Prior to joining the CDC, he was an assistant professor of medicine in the infectious diseases division at Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
He has spent much of his career leading efforts to improve antimicrobial stewardship.
At The Joint Commission, Dr. Srinivasan will design physician services that support the delivery of high-quality care and ensure the accrediting body’s certification programs and services are understood by healthcare providers. He will report to the organization’s vice president and CMO, Elizabeth Mort, MD.
