In its request for proposals, Jackson Health sought a company to take over the management, staffing and billing for the ERs at Jackson Memorial, Jackson North and Jackson South.
Carlos Migoya, CEO of Jackson Health, said in a letter to Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez that the move toward privatization would provide “higher quality and lower cost than any outsourced alternative.”
The Service Employees International Union, which represents workers at Jackson Health, opposes the privatization. Health system leadership has stated that no decision on privatization has been finalized, according to the report.
