In December, the Board rejected the system’s certificate of need application, which has been opposed by rival Sherman Health System, based in Elgin, Ill. The board reheard the proposal after an administrative law judge found a clerical error in the filing of an impact study in the CON application.
Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System had also applied for a CON to build a $200 million hospital in Crystal Lake, just 10 miles from the proposed Huntley location. It was denied in December but will be reconsidered by the board in September, according to a Crystal Lake-Cary Patch report.
