Illinois’ Elmhurst Memorial, Northwestern Memorial in Merger Talks

Northwestern Memorial in Chicago and Elmhurst (Ill.) Memorial Healthcare are entering into exclusive discussions to explore an affiliation, according to an EMHC news release.

A merger would allow Northwestern Memorial to expand into the western suburbs of Chicago, while Elmhurst Memorial would be able to enjoy a more financially secure future with Northwestern Memorial, a viable player in the local healthcare market, according to a Chicago Business report.

Additional details about the discussions were not disclosed. Hospital officials anticipate this next phase of the discussion to be complete within several months.
