Memorial Hospital can now move forward with its plan to build a 94-bed acute-care hospital, with projected costs estimated to be approximately $118.6 million. Hospital officials explained Memorial Hospital would remain the flagship hospital and that the expansion hospital would house more private rooms for patients.
Meanwhile the state regulators turned down two other proposals, each from Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System and Crystal Lake-based Centegra Health System, to build a hospital in nearby Huntley, Ill.
