Q: What were some challenges faced in repurposing the former Medical Center of Southeast Texas-Victory Campus into the new Christus Health West Beaumont? What strategies were implemented to address these challenges?

Paul Trevino: One of the primary challenges our team faced was restoring the major infrastructure systems to meet modern standards, ensuring a high-quality environment for our associates, patients and physicians. Our system team, the building’s owner and our facilities partner, CBRE, worked diligently to complete the necessary upgrades on time. The facility is fully functional and optimized to support high-quality clinical care every day.

Q: How is Christus Health addressing staffing and workforce needs to ensure seamless operations at this new facility?

PT: We are proud to have successfully filled 98% of all posted positions through a combination of local talent and external recruitment. We maintain strong partnerships with local educational institutions to continually develop a skilled workforce that meets our needs. Our commitment extends beyond hiring as we focus on creating a work environment where our associates can reach their full potential and grow within our system.

Q: With the new location increasing access to specialized care, what measures are in place to maintain high-quality patient outcomes and experience?

PT: Quality, safety and service are the foundation of our approach to patient care. Our health system provides the tools and protocols necessary to ensure a safe and effective clinical environment. We measure each clinical activity, aligning our performance with top-tier national standards. With state-of-the-art technology and advanced systems in place, this facility enhances our ability to provide exceptional care while maintaining our commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.

Q: How does this expansion fit into Christus Health’s broader strategy for growth and innovation in the region?

PT: Our mission is to extend faith-based, compassionate care to all who enter our doors. This new facility is deeply embedded within the community and expands access to emergency services, diagnostic services, surgical procedures, specialized treatments and physician medical offices in the Beaumont area. As our third facility of this kind in southeast Texas, we continue to prioritize patient convenience, ensuring that high-quality care is available close to home. Our goal is to meet the healthcare needs of our community where they live and work, reinforcing our commitment to accessible, innovative and patient-centered care.
