U.S. Reps. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), Ron Kind (D-Wis.), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) and Ami Bera, MD (D-Calif.) launched the caucus that aims to “advance a legislative agenda that encourages innovative policy ideas to improve the quality of care and lower costs for consumers,” according to a press release. The caucus will focus on accelerating innovative payment models and technologies that support them.
“As a doctor, I know that healthcare is rapidly changing and it’s important Congress understands new innovations and ideas that can improve patients’ lives and lower costs,” said Dr. Bera in a statement. “The Health Care Innovation Caucus will provide a bipartisan space for these important conversations. I am glad to join my colleagues in this effort to accelerate promising strategies to improve the health care system and ensure patients have access to cutting edge innovation.”
