House funds community health centers in proposed short-term spending bill

Two years of funding for community health centers will be included in the House's upcoming short-term spending bill, Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., said Monday, according to The Hill.

Mr. Walden, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said billions of dollars would be dedicated to the centers, but he did not specify where this money would come from.

Funding for the centers expired Sept. 30. These centers serve 27 million Americans in more than 9,800 rural and urban communities, and nearly 20 percent of the facilities have implemented hiring freezes since their funding expired.
