CMS to Hold Forum on Its Value-Based Purchasing Program

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will hold a forum on the development and implementation of its hospital value-based purchasing program on Oct. 26, according to a report from the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

During the forum, the following topics will be discussed:

  • The acceptable performance period to determine performance scoring and payment calculations;
  • The type of scoring methodology that should be implemented;
  • How performance scores should determine payment incentives; and
  • Which measures from the current Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program should be used in the VBP program.
