The hospital is one of several in the area requiring employees to get flu shots. Four employees resigned from the hospital because of the flu shot policy, which held a deadline of Dec. 15.
Former employee Bertha Hunter has filed a lawsuit over the hospital’s policy and is seeking monetary compensation for damages. Her attorney said employees should not have to receive the shot if they don’t want to and stated the flu shot is not always effective.
AnMed CEO John Miller responded by citing the historical effectiveness of the flu vaccine and the importance of defending employees and patients against the flu.
