The system employs about 5,000 people. Affected employees are in primarily administrative positions, and the layoffs will not affect workers who directly care for patients, according to the report.
A hospital spokeswoman told the Tulsa World the layoffs are the system’s response to healthcare reform and the state’s decision to not expand Medicaid.
