Healthcare Led 2013 CEO Turnover

The healthcare industry led all industries in CEO turnover last year, according to data from Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

Overall, there were 1,246 CEO changes in 2013, according to Challenger, up slightly from 1,214 turnovers in 2012.

Of the turnovers in 2013, 256 were in the healthcare industry. The government and nonprofit sector took second in terms of CEO departures: it saw 178 CEO turnovers last year.
