Planned Parenthood and pro-ACA groups are targeting key senators facing opposition in upcoming midterm elections in Maine, Alaska and Nevada to encourage them to vote against Mr. Kavanaugh’s confirmation. The ACA advocacy groups worry the confirmation would result in a reversal for many protections afforded by the legislation, while Planned Parenthood officials have expressed concern over Mr. Kavanaugh’s anti-abortion stances.

Planned Parenthood’s efforts include letter-writing campaigns, phone banking and newspaper advertising, while other groups are launching television and radio ad campaigns.

“The future of American healthcare for generations is once again going to come down to a handful of senators,” said Brad Woodhouse, executive director of pro-ACA group Protect Our Care, according to The Hill. “Brett Kavanaugh was hand-picked to be a rubber stamp for President Trump’s anti-healthcare agenda, which is driving up costs and reducing healthcare for all of us.”

The groups will hold a day of action Aug. 26 to oppose the confirmation, with coordinated events planned across the country.
