Health expert Avik Roy to join Marco Rubio's campaign

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is expanding his team of advisors with the addition of Avik Roy, a conservative health policy expert and former advisor of Mitt Romney, according to The Hill.

Mr. Roy joins Sen. Rubio's campaign after advising former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who dropped out of the running. Mr. Roy will now advise Sen. Rubio alongside Lanhee Chen, a fellow former advisor to Mr. Romney, according to the report.

Mr. Roy has offered both critique and praise on Sen. Rubio's healthcare plans, according to the report. He wrote in Forbes Sen. Rubio had the right idea with his plan — which would help people afford health plans with subsidies and lump those with pre-existing conditions together into a high-risk pool. However, Mr. Roy's chief concern was the plan did not detail whether those subsidies would be adjusted for income, according to the report.
