Hatch: We are not ruling out ACA mandate repeal in tax reform

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, is not opposed to including a repeal of the ACA individual insurance mandate in tax reform legislation, according to The Hill.

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., first proposed the idea of adding a mandate repeal to the initial tax bill, and though Mr. Hatch may support the plan, he does not think it has a good chance of gaining Democratic support.

“Sure, I didn’t think it should be there to begin with,” Mr. Hatch said of the ACA insurance mandate, according to The Hill.  “But the Dems aren’t going to be for that, so it’s going to be very difficult to get rid of it.”
