Mr. Schroeder started at the hospital during his college years working in the housekeeping and maintenance departments. In 1960, he became CEO and president of the hospital. Under his leadership, the hospital became a leader in innovations, cost effectiveness and high-quality medical care, according to his obituary. He worked at the facility for 36 years before retiring in 1996.
He is survived by his three children and eight grandchildren.
