Three former health system CEOs have joined the advisory board of Nexus, a Cleveland-based company that combines bedside nursing, virtual nursing and technology for hospitals.

The new advisers are Michael Dowling, Toby Cosgrove, MD, and Richard Lofgren, MD, according to an Oct. 6 company news release.

Together, they have led some of the nation’s largest health systems. Mr. Dowling led New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health as president and CEO for more than two decades and is now the system’s CEO emeritus. Dr. Cosgrove was president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic from 2004 to 2017. Dr. Lofgren was the inaugural president and CEO of Oklahoma City-based OU Health until he retired June 30 and previously led Cincinnati-based UC Health.

Dr. Lofgren was also Nexus’ first health system customer, according to the release.

The three will advise Nexus leadership on health system strategy, clinical transformation and growth, the release said. Nexus plans to name additional advisory board members later in October.

Nexus was founded by Akram Boutros, MD, former president and CEO of Cleveland-based MetroHealth System.
