Former medical director at MIT Medical dies at 85

Arnold Weinberg, MD, the former medical director at Cambridge, Mass.-based MIT Medical, died Sept. 28, according to MIT News.

Dr. Weinberg was 85.

After graduating from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Weinberg became chair of medicine at Cambridge (Mass.) Hospital in 1971 and vice chair of medicine at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital in 1975. He took on the role of medical director at MIT Medical in 1985 and served until his retirement in 2000.

Following his retirement, Dr. Weinberg returned to Massachusetts General Hospital to teach and care for patients until 15 months before his death.

"Arnie was a mentor, teacher and friend to thousands of physicians over many decades," said Howard Heller, MD, associate medical director at MIT Medical. "He will be sorely missed."
