Following Sale to Vanguard, Detroit Medical Center to Kick Off 15 Construction Projects

Detroit Medical Center is scheduled to begin 15 different construction projects this October, following the eight-hospital health system’s sale to Vanguard Health Systems, which is tentatively scheduled to close Oct. 1, according to a Detroit Free Press report.

The projects, which range from $3 million to $170 million, are part of Vanguard’s pledge to spend $500 million to expand and upgrade DMC facilities. The projects include a new outpatient pediatric center at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, a new cardiovascular institute at Harper University hospital and an emergency department expansion at Sinai-Grace Hospital, among others.
