Florida’s Tampa General Hospital Operating and Total Income Down, Expenses Up

Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital’s operating and total income for the first nine months of fiscal year 2011 were down compared to the same period last year, according to a Tampa Bay Business Journal report.

The hospital’s operating income for the nine months ending June 30 was $4.06 million, a significant drop from the $32.3 million reported in the same time period last year, according to the report. Similarly, the hospital’s total income for the nine months ending June 30 was $24 million, compared to $40.5 million last year.

The hospital’s expenses also increased since last year, with the biggest portion of the increase resulting from compensation, supplies and purchased services, according to the report.
