Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, R, signed the bill into law March 19, marking the nation’s most restrictive abortion legislation. It does not include exceptions for rape or incest, although it does grant an exception if a “major bodily function” is threatened.
The temporary block was sought by Jackson (Miss.) Women’s Health Clinic, the state’s only abortion clinic.
