EvergreenHealth’s board is elected by voters in the district, so voters will also decide on the expansion proposition. The county will put the proposition on its Aug. 2 election ballot.
The board is seeking an expansion to broaden its representation of the district as the district grows in size, diversity and complexity. Since the formation of the board, the community it serves has grown from 22,000 to almost 300,000 residents.
“Increasing the number of commissioners will help provide oversight within our ever-increasing, complex healthcare environment, with added expertise and a broad mix of skills and leadership styles among commissioners,” Al DeYoung, chair of EvergreenHealth’s board, said in a statement.
