Erlanger Health board brings on stroke researcher

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System is welcoming a new member to its governing board, the Hamilton County Hospital Authority Board of Trustees, according to the Times Free Press.

This new board member is renowned stroke researcher Blaise Baxter, MD, the chief of radiology for Erlanger Health System and chairman of radiology for University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga, according to the report.

Dr. Baxter has received global recognition for his research into stroke intervention techniques and is credited with helping develop Erlanger’s Southeast Regional Stroke Center, which is one of the largest in the U.S., according to the report.

He concurrently serves as vice president of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and incoming president, according to the report. He attended Dalhousie University Halifax in Nova Scotia for medical school and a neuroradiology fellowship, according to the report.
