The expansion will add 5,000 square feet to the ED and seven fast track patient rooms, private rooms for behavioral health patients and a stat lab for blood and other sample tests, according to the report.
Last year, Fort Hamilton had approximately 36,000 ED patient visits, and it is on track to see more than 40,000 patient visits this year. The expansion will allow the ED to accommodate more than 52,000 patients a year.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
