The El Paso hospital is treating victims who were wounded in the Aug. 3 shooting at the local Walmart, according to the report.
At the time of this writing, 1,246 people have signed the petition.
“There have been reports that people injured during the attack on our community did not seek care out of fear of their immigration status,” the petition reads. “This is not a new phenomenon since the election of President Trump. This region has been proudly committed to welcoming and caring for people in our community regardless of nationality or immigration status.”
