Patients are now being diverted to other DMC locations in the area, and local residents are being advised to visit their nearest urgent care facilities for physician’s appointments.

The Surgery Hospital’s 127 employees have been laid off, but DMC is going to try and find alternative employment positions for them.

The first phase of the shutdown began Oct. 3 and will continue through Oct. 10. DMC has not decided whether it will reopen the facility at a later date.
