Under the new policy, all job applicants will be required to complete a nicotine screening as part of their pre-placement assessment. The policy is effective for all DMC locations and job titles.
The system’s nicotine-free policy will not apply to existing employees, although DMC still encourages them to stop smoking and use hospital smoking-cessation services.
The system went smoke-free in July 2007.
