Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, organized the protests, which are in response to the secretive way in which Republicans have drafted their version of the AHCA. Due to a budget reconciliation rule, Republicans require only a simple majority of 51 votes to pass the bill.

Democrats are also wary of drastic measures that could shift public perception from Republican secrecy to Democratic obstruction.
