Watchdog Group Criticizes Jackson Health Executive Pay Amid Layoffs

An article from 1Miami, a city community group, recently argued that the large compensation packages of Jackson Health System executives need to be “right-sized” in the wake of more than 1,100 layoffs of the Miami-based hospital system.

JHS CEO Carlos Migoya earns roughly $850,000 per year in total compensation, which includes a $12,000 car allowance and a $46,000 expense account. Mr. Migoya said last month he would give up his bonus if the layoff strategy saved the hospital money. The article also criticizes the other top 30 executives at JHS, as each one makes at least $150,000 per year.

Nurses and other clinicians will be most impacted by the layoffs, as hundreds of nurses will be eliminated while dozens of other vacant positions will go unfulfilled.
