Wright Lassiter III, president and CEO of Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health, will receive the Health-System Leadership Award from the Association of Black Health-System Pharmacists at the organization’s annual luncheon on Dec. 9.

Mr. Lassiter is being recognized for his commitment to advancing health equity, sustainability and innovation across the nonprofit system, according to a Nov. 14 news release shared with Becker’s. He launched a systemwide climate action plan committing to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 and led the integration of digital and artificial intelligence tools in patient care.

Mr. Lassiter has led CommonSpirit since August 2022. The system includes 158 hospitals and more than 2,300 care sites across 24 states, and employs nearly 160,000 people, including 45,000 nurses and 25,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians.

He has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership. He previously served as president and CEO of Detroit-based Henry Ford Health — where he oversaw two mergers — and as CEO of Alameda (Calif.) Health System, where he led a financial and operational turnaround.
