Colorado governor creates office to reduce healthcare costs

Colorado Democratic Gov. Jared Polis signed an executive order this week to establish an office dedicated to lowering healthcare costs for Colorado residents.

The executive order establishes the Office of Saving People Money on Healthcare, which will be led by Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera.

The goal of the office is to examine and implement policies designed to lower healthcare costs while ensuring quality care for Coloradans. The agency will also work on initiatives to promote public health and address social determinants of health.

"Traveling across the state, we consistently heard from Coloradans about the rising costs of healthcare. While we have made significant progress in expanding access to care in Colorado, there is still much work left to do to reduce costs. This office will focus on ensuring affordability no matter the zip code," Mr. Polis said.
