Medicare claims for hospitals, physicians and other providers will be affected by payment adjustments retroactive to Oct. 1, 2009, Jan. 1, 2010 and April 1, 2010, according to the report.
Reprocessing is expected to begin with inpatient claims, which are least affected by the changes, then outpatient and physician claims.
Reprocessing will be automatic in most cases, but provider with claims with submitted charges lower than revised 2010 physician fee schedule amounts will need to request a manual adjustment, according to the report.
