Morrison, which will replace Gaithersburg, Md.-based Sodexo, will begin providing food services for patients and cafeterias at these locations July 1, Cleveland Clinic spokesperson Heather Phillips said in an emailed statement. Earlier this month, Cleveland Clinic announced its contract with Sodexo is expected to end June 30.
Sodexo said the contract termination would affect 383 employees, including 215 food service workers, 25 cooks, 31 supervisors and numerous other positions, according to The Plain Dealer, which cites a federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed April 28 with the Cuyahoga County Department of Job and Family Services.
Ms. Phillips said Morrison recently met with affected Sodexo employees regarding the transition. “Sodexo and Morrison are working together to provide Sodexo employees with information and guidance about employment opportunities with Morrison through the transition,” she added.
If affected employees are rehired with Morrison, they will have the same rate of pay, a Morrison spokesperson said, according to the report. “There will be no decreases, and all rates of pay will be evaluated for potential increases during the transition. Transitioning employees also will be eligible for benefits with Morrison with no break in coverage,” the spokesperson said.
Sodexo will still provide food services at Cleveland Clinic Akron (Ohio) General, and Philadelphia-based Aramark will continue providing food service at Cleveland Clinic’s regional and Florida facilities.
Ms. Phillips said the switch to Morrison does not affect food service retail vendors on Cleveland Clinic’s main campus, including Aladdin’s Eatery, Subway, Moe’s, Au Bon Pain, Starbucks and NOURISH by Bon Appétit.
