The “regionalization” model enforces Mayo’s pay-for-value system of service, which would ensure that patients would receive the same quality of service at any and all of the clinics and hospitals affiliated with Mayo, according to the report.
The improvements include a region-wide electronic medical record system and centralized laboratory and radiology services, among other initiatives, according to the report. Officials from MHS said in the report that services would only be shared or centralized if it would improve patient care.
Although the goal of regionalization isn’t expansion, officials have not ruled out the option as 3 million potential patients live in the MHS area, according to the report.
