CEO of U of Mississippi Medical Center adult hospitals ousted after 2 years

The CEO of the Jackson-based University of Mississippi Medical Center adult hospitals is out after just over two years, according to the Clarion Ledger.

UMMC officials confirmed the departure of Liz Youngblood, RN, on Oct. 31 in a statement to the Clarion Ledger. She will "remain on staff with the medical center for a period necessary to complete some defined projects already underway."

A UMMC spokesperson told the publication he could not comment on the nature of Ms. Youngblood's departure, citing personnel matters. Kevin Cook, CEO of UMMC Health System, will temporarily take over Ms. Youngblood's position.

Ms. Youngblood oversaw UMMC's adult hospitals, including the flagship University Hospital facility in Jackson, the women's hospital and other outpatient clinics in the surrounding Jackson area.
