Prior to becoming president at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Nabel was the director of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health. She is a nationally recognized scholar and author of 250 publications.
Her colleagues have recognized her excellence in leadership by selecting her to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Association of American Physicians, the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, and as a fellow of the American Association for The Advancement of Science. She also is on the editorial boards of the New England Journal of Medicine and Science Translational Medicine.
While serving as president the hospital, Dr. Nabel has helped reduce the hospital’s base expenses by $125 million, which she explained in an interview with Becker’s Hospital Review.
