Cape Fear Valley Health announces 19 layoffs

Fayetteville, N.C.-based Cape Fear Valley Health has announced plans to lay off 19 employees at Harnett Health, which includes two hospitals in Dunn, N.C., and Lillington, N.C., according to a Fay Observer report.

Cape Fear Valley Health recently took over management of Harnett Health, which posted a $24 million loss last year and is heading for another major loss this year, according to the report.

“The reduction in workforce is an effort to adjust staffing to industry benchmarks,” Cape Fear Valley CEO Mike Nagowski told the Observer.

Affected employees will receive a severance package and outplacement services.
