Cape Fear Valley Health recently took over management of Harnett Health, which posted a $24 million loss last year and is heading for another major loss this year, according to the report.

“The reduction in workforce is an effort to adjust staffing to industry benchmarks,” Cape Fear Valley CEO Mike Nagowski told the Observer.

Affected employees will receive a severance package and outplacement services.
