Exeter (N.H.) Hospital has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by a former nurse who claimed she was fired after reporting medical procedures were not properly followed in the endoscopy unit, according to a Seacoast Online report.
Susan Smith filed the suit in Oct. 2009, claiming her termination in April 2008 was in retaliation for complaining of improper care. She claimed to have found unsterile syringes in the unit and said she came under scrutiny after expressing concerns of a registered nurse being sent to another unit to administer sedation.
Hospital officials denied any wrongdoing in her termination. Details of the settlement are under seal and both sides have declined comment.
