The U.S. Senate recently voted to delay the planned Medicare cuts by one year, and various associations are urging the House to pass the legislation before the Jan. 1 deadline, when Medicare cuts are set to begin.
According to the CMA, physicians who treat elderly patients — especially those in rural areas, where they may be one of only a few healthcare providers — may be forced to drop those patients or stop adding new ones if the cuts are realized.
CMA and AARP are mobilizing California physicians and Medicare patients to contact their elected representatives.
