North Carolina’s Frye Regional Medical Center, Caldwell Memorial Announce Layoffs

Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, N.C., and Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, N.C., are laying off employees largely due to reduced Medicaid reimbursements, according to a Hickory Daily Record report.

Caldwell Memorial is cutting 40 jobs, some through vacancies and others through offerings to employees for early retirement. Work hours will also be cut. Meanwhile, Frye Regional Medical Center has already begun laying off employees, with plans to cut 36 positions, according to the report.
