The remainder of the job cuts will affect Bordeaux Long-Term Care and Knowles Home. The job cuts are in response to reduced funding, a growing population of patients without insurance and increased costs for employee benefits and loan obligations.

While the civil service committee has already approved the job cuts, the hospital authority’s proposal to shut down a neonatal intensive care unit has drawn fire. In addition to spending cuts, the hospital authority is also considering a pediatric unit for the hospital.
