Dr. Knight notes, “Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) are at the forefront of the shifting healthcare paradigm and their skill set, as well as mindset, are in need of an evolution in order to succeed. Hospitals and their medical staffs can no longer afford to operate in parallel, but must align and integrate more completely in order to meet the challenges they face. For example, value-based reimbursements, such as bundled payments, are requiring more and more integration of care delivery between physicians and hospitals.”
