Becker’s Healthcare Advisory Board welcomes CEOs of Dignity Health, Temple University Hospital

Becker’s Healthcare is pleased to welcome two executives to its Advisory Board: Lloyd Dean, president and CEO of San Francisco-based Dignity Health, and Verdi DiSesa, MD, president and CEO of Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Mr. Dean leads the fifth largest health system in the nation —with 400 care centers across 22 states — and the largest hospital provider in California. He took the helm in 2000 of Catholic Healthcare West, Dignity Health’s former name, prior to its 2012 rebranding. Mr. Dean earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kalamazoo-based Western Michigan University, and he holds an honorary doctorate from the University of San Francisco.

“We are thrilled for Lloyd Dean to join us,” says Scott Becker, publisher of Becker’s Healthcare. “He is one of the smartest, most principled and most thoughtful CEOs in healthcare — a terrific leader.”

Dr. DiSesa assumed leadership of the 722-bed TUH in March 2016. He also serves as COO of Temple University Health System, senior vice dean for clinical affairs with the university’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine and professor of surgery with the medical school. Dr. DiSesa is a cardiothoracic surgeon — he earned his medical degree from Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed residencies in internal medicine, surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

“We are so thankful for Dr. DiSesa to join us,” says Mr. Becker. “He is a quintessential figure in healthcare today — a surgeon by background and a true healthcare leader. He brings the perspective of running a preeminent hospital.”

Becker’s Healthcare’s 15-member Advisory Board is comprised of a select group of healthcare leaders who advise on the editorial direction of the leading healthcare trade magazine and website. The board is chaired by Scott Becker, publisher of Becker’s Hospital Review.
